# Lineform

Lineform is a free native macOS Markdown editor for calm writing, real local files, and readable long-form text.

It is built around ordinary UTF-8 Markdown and text files, so documents stay portable across Finder, iCloud Drive, Git, and other editors. Existing files autosave as you write, so edits are saved to the file automatically.

- Format headings, lists, links, emphasis, and inline code.
- Save Markdown, plain text, or export a PDF.
- Use reading controls for font, size, line height, spacing, width, theme, reading ruler, and typewriter mode.

## Basic AI editing

Select text in Write mode, turn on AI, describe the edit, then review the suggested change before accepting it.

The editor checks suggestions before applying them to avoid prompt artifacts, stale selections, empty edits, and unsafe Markdown changes.

No account system. No analytics by default. No document upload.
